Losing You

Although we were only friends,
I never understood,
why my conscience always told me,
to hug you one more time.

Every time I left your side,
I was told to tell you I'd miss you,
and I'd always be here for you,
I thought you'd be here for me, too.

When I got the news that you were gone,
I completely went numb,
How could I have lost you,
You were always the one…

The one I could turn to,
when times got a little tough,
I could always hug you,
when talking just wasn't enough.

You hated good-byes,
you always had,
so I won't say good-bye,
through these eyes so sad.

Instead I'll say see ya soon,
because death can't break our bond,
Our friendship and love can take this,
we have got to be strong…
