Her guardian angel loved her,
Maybe even more than I;
He knew that he'd be going Home
When told the day she'd die.

He'd been there since her time of birth,
Watched o'er her day and night;
His brilliant wings would shelter her,
He kept her in his sight.

He knew her hopes,
He knew her fears;
He loved her laugh,
He felt her tears.

He wrote down every word she spoke,
And heard her every prayer;
He followed every step she took,
Went with her everywhere.

The pain she felt before her death
Broke his strong heart in two;
It grieved him when he saw her thus
And nothng he could do.

But when she breathed her final breath
She saw his face so dear;
She knew he'd been there all her life
And now there was no fear.

For in his hand she'd slip her own,
And with him she would fly;
His massive wings would safely speed
To her new Home on high.

With Jesus there to welcome
This beloved burden...then...
The angel placed her in His care
Forevermore, Amen.

I didn’t choose you for myself
God did that you see
He knew what he was doing
it was our destiny

He gave us strength to rise above
the limits we endured
and gave us truth of spirit
that we were assured

In His greatest wisdom
He knew that we would see
the strength in unconditional love
that expands eternity

If time were to be measured
the years we had were few
but I thank God for all of them
and a brother such as you.

buddy's candle by dr. bernie s. siegel, illustrated by mari gayatri stein, for anyone who ha ever lost a loved oneIn Dr. Bernie Siegel's new book, Buddy's Candle, a father shares a meaningful story from his childhood with his nine year old son. In a gentle way, the father describes how a loving dog named Buddy not only helped him to heal when facing a serious illness, but also changed his life in miraculous ways. Buddy's Candle is a touching and heartwarming story. In its gentle way, it helps us to deal with grief and teaches us how to live life fully and accept loss and death with an open heart. The original and charming illustrations by Mari Gayatri Stein take us on a joy filled adventure. These full spectrum color drawings add humor, and a heartfelt exuberance.

As a surgeon who has worked with people with life threatening illnesses for many years, Dr. Bernie Siegel shares in this story his belief that there is a light in each of us by God's/Dog's design. And, that we are all a part of the candle parade of light. As long as we remember to love, our candles will glow with life as will Buddy's candle across the Rainbow Bridge. This is a story both children and adults will find healing, uplifting, and inspiring.

As I stand over you
I watch your lifeless body
Waiting for you to take a breath
Waiting for you to wake up,
As I'm sobbing
"Why won't you talk to me?"
What is this that I see?
All of your beauty and glory fading
I'm begging you,
I'm pleading,
Don't leave me.
Mommy, I love you,
Why don't you believe me?
Oh God, I can't believe what I'm seeing
I can't believe this is really happening
You're no longer with me
Happy and alive
This is the hardest thing,
I'm sorry, Mom
For all the bad things that I've done,
I can't stop this pain inside,
I've gone numb
My beloved mother
Rest in peace.

As the rain falls to the ground
My pride is tumbling down
The pain is running deep
As I stumble to my feet.
Can I hold the hurt inside
Should I just run and hide
Shall I yell for you to hear
All the hurt, pain and fear…
Does my body feel the pain
Of embarrassment or shame
As he tells his friends our sins
That he hopes to do again.
Does it thrill him to know
That my pain I need to show.
Does he even have a doubt
That I’m wanting to get out
Does he care how I feel
Or does he just want to steal
The love I thought we had.
A love that has turned bad.
